Explain this Directory

The Community and Services Directory is a place where you can list your site.  Of course, your site must offer a valuable service in some way to the community.

What makes this
directory so useful

Searchable Resource

Our users don't need to wade through dozens of other people's links just to get to yours.  The sites listed in our directory are completely searchable.  This includes your sites title, description, and url.

Who decides the order
the sites are listed in?

You do!

The Community and Services Directory has in place a totally unique algorithm that determines the order in which our sites are listed.  The algorithm gives priority to those sites which are most similar to Job Search Express, and most useful to our users.  It makes sense that our uses want to see your site high up in the list if it's useful to them.

The way it works is like this.  We track the searchers our users perform, and the sites which they click through to.  We also record the amount of traffic we receive from your site.  All these figures are calculated together to determine how relevant your site is considered to our users.

So how do you get your site onto our first page?  Simple.  The secret is traffic.  Place a link to Job Search Express prominently on your site.  If we receive a significant traffic flow from your site, we'll assume your users are interested in the sorts of things our site has to offer.  This moves your site up the list.  As your site moves higher up in our directory, it's more likely to be clicked on.  Once again, we determine that your site must be more relevant to our users, so it has a doubling effect.

  • Place a highly visible link on your site to Job Search Express

  • Large amounts of traffic flowing in both directions indicates to our algorithm that your site must be highly relevant

The algorithm is completely automated, and statistically based.  Our editors play no part in determining the order in which sites are listed in our directory.

In effect, you're completely in control of how high up in our directory your site is listed.  Now that you won't find anywhere else!

Site Administration

The Community and Services Directory is fully automated.  You can update the directory stats, or your site details in the sections below.

Where do I link to?

In order to have any respectable position at all in The Community and Services Directory, you'll need to provide a link prominently on your site.

Remember, the more prominent the link is on your site, the higher up you're likely to appear in our directory.

Title:  Job Search Express
URL:  http://jobsearchexpress.com
Description:
Your job search center. Free job search engine, job listings, employment, resume, careers services, and job search forum. Find a job in 15 seconds!

Do you need the actual HTML code?

Why is my site listed
without a link?

This means your site has "lapsed".  The traffic flows from and to your site seemed to have stopped, and so the listing of your site has been placed into "stasis".

This probably means that the link on your site to Job Search Express no longer exists, or is too obscure.  Try making the link more prominent.  That's the best way to get listed higher in our directory.

You can activate your link again in our directory simply by clicking on the link on your site to Job Search Express.

Why is my site buried
several pages down

So, you're listed in The Community and Services Directory but you're not on page 1 as you expected?

Remember, YOU have the power to determine how high up in the directory you're listed.  Make your link to Job Search Express more prominent, larger, or towards the top of the page.  That way, our relevancy algorithm will view your site as more relevant, and you'll steadily move up in the directory.

Now, any changes you make will take time to be reflected.  So if you're new to the directory, or you've just changed the link back on your site, check back in a couple of weeks to see how well all of your good work has paid off.

How can people find my site?

There are three ways people can find you.  If you're a recent site, you can be found on the What's New page.

Secondly, people can find you by searching.  If the term they're searching for exists in your site's title, description, or URL, your site will be listed.

Thirdly, in the List All Sites section.
